Annotated Bibliography in IEEE Style

In this blog post I will be making an annotated bibliography in IEEE style. Here is an example of an annotated bibliography entry in IEEE style. See page 36-37 for the example. Here is the link to my annotated bibliography.

EDIT:

After reading Namratha's and Victoria's annotated bibliographies, I realized that many styles of writing annotated bibliographies share many of the same traits. However, I also learned of some crucial difference between styles that can make or break the bibliography. Even within the IEEE citation style, there is variation in how citations are made. Namratha, who also did her annotated bibliography in IEEE style, found a slightly different variation of the annotated bibliography. This made me realize just how careful I have to be when trusting sources claiming to have the correct format for that style of citation. By reading Victoria's bibliography, I saw how different formats of annotated bibliographies could lend themselves more to different fields of study. While it was tedious seeking out the specific citation style I needed, I see the importance of having specific styles for specific types of writing.

  1. I wasn't super familiar with the IEEE style, but it seems like you were faithful to the rubric to create your bibliography. The alphabetized authors, with the first name shortened to an initial, and efficient summary that was accurate to the steps given in the blog post rubric. Looks good! :)

  2. I personally did not use the IEEE style, but it looks like you did a great job with it. The citations seem to be consistent with the style guide you provided, and although I used APA style rather than IEEE, it was interesting to see how these styles overlap in some areas. Your annotations were also very thorough, and I especially liked how you explained how you would use every source in your paper. Good luck on your paper!

  3. I used IEEE style too, but I think we cited things a bit differently because we looked at different sources. I'm not quite sure why, but the style guide pdf I looked at was slightly different from the one you looked at. I also saw the one you used when I looked IEEE up, but I chose to stick with what the longer pdf I found said. I'm not quite sure which is "correct," but at least our citations aren't too different. Good job with your citations!
